Recent Work

The inspiration for my work is always linked to my personal experiences from past and present. My first recent paintings of gardens began during Lockdown in my studio. I now had time to work on large canvases and had only my memories and photographic records of places visited during my regular travels from Yorkshire up to North West Scotland during fishing holidays. As normality resumed I could now visit places like Inverewe Gardens near Ullapool and Gertrude Jekyll’s garden on Lindisfarne.

I continue to be inspired by the landscape, wildlife and heritage surrounding me in North Yorkshire when I am creating relief prints and paintings. Family recollections and holiday experiences all provide stimuli for new directions.
